Benefit will paint the town
red for Valentines Day
Cleveland Couples and singles alike are invited to "Paint the Town Red" on Valentine's Evening, Friday, February 14 from 8:00 pm until midnight, on the Avenue at Tower City Center.
The event is the second annual Valentine benefit for the Open House, a non-profit center in Cleveland Heights for people in the HIV spectrum-
people with HIV or AIDS, as well as their parents, partners,
lessons; a morning with Brian and Joe on the WMMS Buzzard Morning Zoo; a diamond and amethyst ring; a Magic Johnson autographed basketball; field box seats at an Indians baseball game; original works of art; round-trip airfare anywhere in the continental U.S.; and the list goes on.
"Paint the Town Red serves many pur-
poses," said executive director Sister Marian Durkin. "It's a terrific
party, it's a way to gain
spouses, friends and The Open House support for our important
relatives.
Honorary chairs are Michael and Michele
Belkin and Dr. Ruth Miller. Event chairs are Peter Arendt and Wendy Zahler.
Partygoers "Valentine Cupids”—will enjoy innovative entertainment, delicate hors d'oeuvres and fabulous signature desserts from Cleveland's finest restaurants as well as complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks. A cash bar is also available.
Another party choice is to join the fun as "Valentine Sweethearts" and receive a limited edition commemorative Paint the Town Red '97 T-shirt and complimentary valet parking. All guests are encouraged to wear red casual attire.
For the second year, Paint the Town Red will feature a silent Valentine auction with the chance to have lunch for two in the dining room of the White House in Washington, D.C. Other items available for bidding include a hot air balloon ride for two; flying
services, and it's a warm thank-you to people who have meant so much to
Cleveland's fight against HIV and AIDS."
Paint the Town Red '97 salutes special honorees Joan and Vic Gelb, who lost their son Bobby to AIDS in 1992. In addition, a special tribute will be given in memory of civic leader and Tower City Center president Ruth Miller, who passed away in November, 1996.
Cleveland ranks 14th in the nation for the number of people with HIV and AIDS. The Open House has served more than 500 greater Clevelanders since its opening in 1993 through one-on-one counseling, sup port groups, hospital visitation and support for the homebound.
Valentine Sweetheart tickets for Paint the Town Red are $75; Valentine Cupid tickets are $50. For more information about Paint the Town Red, call 216229-6722.
